01 Jan 12 Fashion Colour Trends That Will Light Up 2024
It’s the first day of the new year, which is exciting. And also intimidating. Because it means getting through the whole of January and February before we start to see a glimmer of spring on our radar. Luckily, we have hope, fresh energy, and the feeling we might just metamorphose into anything this year. Or at the very least finally reorganise our wardrobes. And whilst we are digging around in there, eyes will be firmly peeled for any of these fabulous colours laying in wait to transform our winter outfits.
These 12 colour trends are going to light up 2024. What better way to beat the January blues than with a little pop of colour (we know you have already been popping hard with the red…) in your winter outfits? Or a new neutral if you’re starting small (hello chocolate brown and grey). Here are 12 colour trends to try in 2024, one for each month of the new year…
fashion colour trends 2024 – Butter Yellow
The Quiet Luxury trend that’s been simmering away for a while has seen subtle shades such as butter yellow gaining popularity. but whether you are into looking low-key rich or not, the butter yellow colour trend is pretty as a picture and perfect for spring. See Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Sandy Liang, Givenchy, and Tove for inspiration.
See also Reformation’s ‘Parmesan” Cashmere Sweater.
So very pretty.
Incredibly chic on so many levels.
In love.
Try a pop of butter yellow in buttery soft leather with this Reformation shoulder bag, or this Mango leather shoulder bag.
This H&M rib knit number looks more expensive than it is in pale yellow.
So good with dark denim.
colour trends 2024 – Every Shade of Red
Of all the fashion colour trends of 2023/2024, we can’t fail to mention red. There are ‘pops of red’ all over our feeds, and like everyone else, we are obsessed with it. The spring/summer 2024 collections showed a shift towards dark cherry shades as seen at Gucci, Hermès, Prada, Valentino, Bottega Veneta, Versace, and Miu Miu, though bright red is still on point as seen at Alexander McQueen, Acne Studios, and Simone Rocha and paired with lavender at Molly Goddard and Del Core.
Wear this dark cherry knit with the matching knit trousers, or anything else in your wardrobe for an on-point look.
A dreamy pop of glossy dark cherry.
Burgundy looks great in leather.
As it does in velvet.
Just the right amount of drama and flounce.
Red tights are trending.
As are red cardigans. This & Daughter one is perfection, as are Reformation’s Clara Cashmere Cardigan and & Other Stories Knitted Red Cardigan.
Preppy perfection. These Le Monde Beryl patent Mary Jane Ballet Flats are also a delightful way to dip a toe in the trend.
fashion colour trends 2024 – Lavender
Lavender is another shade that’s been trending since last summer and the haze has yet to lift. As seen at Coach, Rabanne, Courreges, Tom Ford, Maison Margiela, Supriya Lele, and Issey Miyake. Lavender makes a nice combination with other trending shades of chocolate brown, red, and silver/grey so will slip right into your wardrobe this year if it hasn’t already.
Lilac silk trimmed with chocolate brown lace makes a pretty combination.
This is such a wow top.
Lavender looks great with indigo, another 2024 colour trend.
Arket’s merino roll neck also looks great with khaki.
And did we mention, silver?
This mohair-blend scarf and oversized knit jumper look ultra luxe with equally loose grey tailored trousers.
Miu Miu’s lilac feather-trimmed two-piece skirt and top are the most fun.
colour trends 2024 – Indigo Blue
There is a whole spectrum of blues trending, but deep shades of Indigo and almost Navy look great paired with other trending shades of yellow, red, and orange.
Pinstripes are still big news. H&M’s indigo pinstriped wide trousers and oversized shirt are also worth a look.
Snap this up before I do.
Reformation’s Navy satin slip dress with square neck and thin straps has a very 00s minimalist vibe. This & Other Stories deep blue slip is a beautiful silky option with wide straps.

Dreamy.
This hue also pairs so well with other shades of blue.
fashion colour trends 2024 – Orange Hues
The Pantone colour of 2024 “peach fuzz” was not the only shade of orange strutting the catwalk for spring/summer 2024. See the zesty orange leather at Bottega Veneta, and similarly bright hues at Fendi, as well as rust and terracotta tones at Tove.
As demonstrated by SIMKHAI’s printed dress, shades of orange and blue make a mesmeric combination, especially paired with warm gold accessories.
Pair with a holiday glow, denim cut offs and gold hoops come summer.

Rusty tones look equally as fabulous come in summer as they do in autumn/winter and this dress is such a stunner.
colour trends 2024 – Powder Blue
There was a whole lot of blue on the SS24 runways, but powder blue stood out paired with siren red and cool camel at Givenchy, pops of bright pink at Prada, and bright yellow and orange and cool grey at Fendi.
A little bit sheer, a little bit fuzzy, and perfectly on-point, this Mango cardigan is a winner.
Yes please.

This coat is so luxe-looking, as long as you aren’t as clumsy as me.
Winner.
fashion colour trends 2024 – Grey Days
Grey is up there with red as the colour to be seen in this season (often together), and is arguably more low-key for those who don’t deal well with colour. One of the favourite ways to wear this hue is head-to-toe or as a grounding shade for trending brights and pastels. As seen at Fendi, Brandon Maxwell, Burberry, 16Arlington, and Emilia Wickstead, amongst others.
So chic.
This maxi skirt and flowy blouse are winning together or worn separately.
In love.
A grey cardigan is one of those ultimate wardrobe staples you never regret investing in, especially this season.
Top of the wishlist.

& Other Stories Knit T-Shirt comes in grey or equally on-point pale blue.
colour trends 2024 – Silver
Silver is no less of a thing in 2024 than it was in 2023. Some would argue it’s only getting bigger, with silver jewellery gaining major momentum and silver shoes, jeans, and accessories an ever-popular way to add interest to an outfit. It’s up there with red as a way to bring your outfit bang up to date with the smallest of additions.
Mango’s metallic midi or silver leather effect trousers are a great investment.
Silver Mary-Janes are also a great way to update your outfits.
These come in 3 different leg lengths and sizes 6-24. Good old M&S.
The ultimate statement silver earrings.
A pointed toe, kitten heel, and metallic silver finish, these are a triple threat, ticking off multiple boot trends.
The simple silhouette of Christopher Esber’s Palladium dress lets the silver satin shine.
A little bit 80s and very on-point.
fashion colour trends 2024 – Chocolate Brown
Luxurious chocolate brown is another trending neutral we can get on board with. Seen at Hermès, Loewe, Saint Laurent, Ferragamo, Givenchy, and Tom Ford, amongst others, this staple hue always looks luxe.
Perfect in velvet, if Loewe’s high-rise flared pants are out of your price range, check out Reformation’s Penny High Rise Corduroy Pants (and brown corduroy midi skirt).
This chocolate brown shirt and coordinating slinky maxi skirt are perfection.
Perfect come winter or summer.
This expensive-looking chunky cable knit dress also looks so cosy.
Forever a fan of this chocolate brown leather midi dress.
Yum.
This minimalist blazer is so luxe-looking, whether paired with the matching trousers or denim.
Kitten heels, pointed toes and mock-croc finishes are all major boot trends for 2023/2024, and this pair is so elegant.
fashion colour trends 2024 – Pistachio to Forest Green
Whilst grass green has reigned supreme for a while, shades of green from summery pistachio to darker olive and forest were big news for SS24 at Saint Laurent, JW Anderson, Erdem, Fendi, Ferragamo, and Loewe.
Such a great shade of pistachio green.
Satin looks great in this sage green shade. See Reformation’s Kailyn silk dress for proof. Or indeed, their Layla Silk Sip Skirt, or Arket’s Satin Maxi.
These trousers have a really great 70s vibe.

colour trends 2024 – Pastel Pink
Seen at Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, why miss pink from the pastel power gang this season?
This soft pink mohair cardigan with Peter Pan collar, pearlescent buttons, and tiny crystal embellishments is a dream.
From the oversized style to the pastel pink frames and gradient purple lenses, these sunglasses are ticking off multiple eyewear trends.
Pale pink and gold are always a good combination, and Bottega Veneta’s Sardine mini leather shoulder bag is no exception.
Miu Miu’s logo ballet flats are so pretty in the softest dusty pink leather.
Cute as a button.
The palest powder pink knit and matching knit skirt make a great combo. H&M also has a wide-cuffed shirt in a similar hue that would look great with denim.
Or try Arket’s crisp pink tie-neck blouse which looks great with indigo denim.
fashion colour trends 2024 – All White
White is forever classic, especially come spring/summer, and 2024 is no exception. Whether cut-out at Valentino ruffled at Chloé, wispy at Prada, or sleek and tailored at Saint Laurent.
Sheer layers are another major theme set to continue for spring/summer 2024.
Grab these while you can.

A crisp white shirt always makes sense.
As does a structured cropped bomber.
