21 Feb 20 Turtlenecks Perfect for Transitional Dressing
THERE ARE SO MANY GOOD TURTLENECKS AROUND AND THEY ARE ANYTHING BUT BORING
The winter weather has started to fluctuate and to our delight, slowly show signs of warming up. However, this means that In no time we will be experiencing those tricky transitional days on our way to the joys of spring. I know all too well the trials and tribulations of settling on an outfit for a day that can’t decide if it’s in spring or winter. Planning and preparation are not my forte, but I will do better this year. One essential that always make transitional dressing all the more simple, is the humble turtleneck. Slip a second skin turtleneck on under a chunky knit in the depths of winter and then layer under a spring ready dress, shacket, or blazer when the weather starts to warm up. A turtleneck can increase the overall wearability of your wardrobe, so it pays to have a few options in your basics drawer. These skinny tops also provide a perfect partner to this seasons wider leg trousers, mini lengths and knee high boots. Maybe this is why we are seeing such a wide array of interesting print and colour options on offer, providing much more than a simple layering piece. Some of these are too pretty to cover up, such as Nanushka’s retro florals and Prada’s perfect prints, making your outfit pop in one swift move. Arket and COS offer up perfect basic’s in an array of colours if you are looking for something more simple. Either way these trusty turtleneck tops are going to make transitional dressing so much easier and a little bit more fun.
The most beautiful retro floral print.
This sheer number isn’t going to be the toastiest, but you have to love the tie dye print and it will work nicely for evening too.
How your turtle neck can be the talking point of your outfit. This Zara knit number also comes in a lovely forest green if your tastes are a bit more lowkey.
A pretty abstract print for those who aren’t fans of a floral.
The dream turtleneck. This one is very low in stock, but there are also some units on the red and black option at Mytheresa. The only thing potentially better than the turtleneck in this print, is the Cleo bag in this print, which is currently sold out. However, the pink print is also a joy.
Prada is not letting up on the turtleneck game and this Wes Anderson movie, in roll neck form is a real stand out. Those loafers as well.
The most beautiful blue.
Look how well a bright turtleneck goes with neutral tailored trousers and a casual layer for a warm, but pulled together everyday look. Arket’s roll necks don’t just look good either, the material reacts to body temperature, storing warmth when the body is cold and providing a cooling effect when warm.
If you don’t already have a classic black turtleneck in your wardrobe, you will never regret adding one.
If it’s black and white you’re after, La DoubleJ have you covered with this Paisley print option that will pair beautifully with everything. I am also a major fan of this gorgeous green printed option.
Wales Bonner gives us a major nostalgia trip with this jacquard knit turtleneck.
Leopard somehow treads the line between playful print and timeless classic.
If you are more for a cropped silhouette this neutral Reformation number is a winner.
COS, ever the queen of great staples, has a multitude of colour options available in this Merino turtle neck. This beautiful light blue shade is looking fresh as a daisy, especially paired with neutral tailored trousers.
This also comes in a delightful, spring ready pastel colour option and I don’t know which is cuter.
This gorgeous green number adds a bit more interest with the lettuce hem.
Get your day tripper vibes on with this 60’s floral print.
Serious lessons in how to work a turtleneck.
A cool but classic stripe will never get old.
If you prefer your turtleneck with a side of sass, a high-neck, second skin top provides a great silhouette for a subtle but impactful cut out that is evening ready.
If you are looking for other ways to keep warm until Spring, don’t miss our best knitted hoods and balaclava round up….
