30 Sep Cut It Out – So Many Good Ways to Wear the Cut Out Trend
HAVE YOU BEEN ENJOYING SETTING SOME SKIN FREE IN SUMMER’S CUT OUT TREND? DON’T WORRY, THE LOOK IS SET TO DEFY THE WEATHER AND ROLL INTO AUTUMN WINTER AND BEYOND
After too many months hiding away under tracksuits at home, the appetite to dress up and show some skin shows no signs of stopping. Thanks to the many varying ways to peep skin from an item of clothing, this trend can suit anyones tastes. Whether you prefer to modestly reveal a slither of collarbone, or would rather only cover what you deem to be essential. If you’re in the latter category, full on going out dresses revealing a flash of thigh, a hint of midriff and a generous amount of shoulder and décolletage are firmly back on the radar. Side revealing lacing, peep holes, safety pins and rhinestones reminiscent of many a mid 90’s paparazzi meltdown, have slid onto the scene for AW21 and will make for the perfect show stopping Christmas party looks. Stay tuned for more on that later.
If you prefer a more modest look (or are just more resistant to any kind of breeze that might find its way inside your coat), knits are amped up this season in even the most subtle of ways with just a hint of shoulder or collarbone on show. Chic pants revealing a hint of hip and full coverage knitted dresses revealing just a slither of side waist can take you from day to night. Spaghetti straps (does anyone not enjoy the term flossing for this trend?) adorning slinky midis remain ever present, whilst the trend for strappy midriff baring blouses and shirts moves nicely into knitted and wrapped cardigans for the colder months. This trend allows the wearer to choose to reveal or conceal as much, or as little as desired. Playing with layering is also a great option for the cooler days, or protecting your modesty. A cut-out midi dress styled over a cosy knitted polo is a perfectly practical and subtle way to explore this trend. Come SS22, de-layer and rewear.
KNITS AND TOPS
A subtly cut-out knit is an easy and season appropriate way to dip a toe into this trend, whilst a fancy strappy top can be a low effort way to add high impact to your jeans-and-a-nice-top going out look. Just throw an oversized blazer over and go.

DRESSES
Sooooooo many dresses. Whilst the cut-out trend easily lends itself to a sexy going out look, it is also appearing in elegant and subtle iterations across this season’s full coverage knitwear dresses and more romantic styles that are so versatile.
